Mission
  • Give power to your imagination: creativity is our mission. If we can do something to free it we will. If Powua lacks something, we undertake to create it for you in the shortest possible time.
  • We want to make it so that Powua is everyone's Super Internet Computer forever. This is why we use one of the best GNU/Linux distributions in the world: Debian. We chose it over all the others for its Social Contract; it guarantees that, now and in the future, we'll be able to supply you with the tools that make up Powua, without paying any additional price, in money or freedom. We're aware that computer tools always have defects and gaps and this is why we listen to your requests with attention. If a group of our users tell us of a characteristic that Powua lacks, which could improve their experience, we will not hesitate to try and produce it in the shortes possible time. We have already prepared many things for you so that your Powua experience is as successful and pleasant as possible, but you'll no doubt tell us what other things you want.
  • We give you power, not just a service. More Powua for everyone. Powua has a cost, but the objective for us in the end is to save you time, and your time is priceless.
  • Let's be plain about it: for tasks such as 3D rendering, scientific computing and many other applications that can use a lot of computing power, many software products can now be used on ordinary computers at home or work, not just on Super Computers. The difference lies in the execution time: you can also try things out on your home or work computer, but if your ideas are clear you will want more power, so that you can create more things in less time. Perhaps you can't buy a Super Computer (for now), but you know you can use one to save time and complete more demanding tasks without incurring a large expense, because you use it only when you need to.
  • Everyone has the right to choose. This is why free software coexists for us with commercial software. We don't want to limit anyone for any reason on earth. Our philosophy is to be open.
  • We've made it possible for you to install the software you have, even if it is non-free software. If you want a program you're used to using on your computer to also be present in Powua, you can install it. If you don't know of a free software product that carries out the same tasks, we'll look for one for you and if it's not already installed we'll install it. We're collaborating with some software manufacturers so that you'll be able to purchase the software products you need only when you need them, without paying the full price for them, and renting them for just the time they'll be necessary for you. This is a small revolution in the software industry and you shouldn't expect all the software you're used to paying for to be available in this form right away. If you produce software that you think is worth sharing on Powua, freely or for a fee, please contact us and we'll be able to integrate your solutions into our infrastructure. Powua protects the privacy of its users and their data through the highest technological standards of encryption.
  • Community is not something that's constructed on paper; it springs from respect and feeds on trust. The Powua community already exists. It comprises all those people who do not stop in the face of the limits of their computer. Those whose minds work faster than Moore's law... There are many ways to create: rendering, computing, genetics, etc. We back you as much as possible.
  • To make possible our idea of community, which we'd like to see grow with Powua, we've prepared those tools that according to many people help these communities to grow on the net: forums, a wiki and a few mailing lists. We'll make it so that it will be possible for you to find an increasing amount of documentation, links and contacts to turn your imagination into reality in the shortest possible time. Our objective is to help communities of free software users to test these software products, and improve and fund them. We'll spare no opportunity to create and share knowledge and we invite you to do the same with Powua: ask it for what you never imagined until now. Above all, use Powua to make time: our time is one of the many things that have no price, because no one can get it back again. Time is our life.
  • Free to move. Find your Powua how you left it. We don't want to force you to sit at the same desk all the time. We no longer do that.
  • When you use Powua, you'll obviously be able to make your work environment the most suitable for your purposes and tastes. If you install software, configure your desktop and work on some materials today; when you want to resume using Powua you'll find everything as if we'd taken a photo of your wishes. You'll find them as you left them. We've made it so that your account on Powua is stored for all future uses so that you'll never have to waste time reinstalling, configuring and updating. We want you to be able to go anywhere in the world where there's an Internet connection and access the data you're using and the software that's producing them. You don't need to be in front of your computer to check that your computing is finished. Your Super Computer follows you wherever you want.
  • We undertake here and now, and it's written in our founding statute, to allocate a part of our revenues to foundations and projects that further the dream of free knowledge. We do this through sums of money and also through Powua's power.
  • We've always believed that those who invest and earn with free software should repay the community of developers and users in some way. We've decided to allocate 10% of our earnings to projects that protect and facilitate developers and users of free software, such as Kernel Linux, Gnu Foundation, Free Software Foundation and obviously Debian, and software that, for its growth, needs computing power and funding in the many different fields of application (scientific and numerical computing, 3D, multimedia, streaming, database). Powua supports and funds the efforts of those who create free software that can be made available to everyone and especially of those projects that are suitable for use on multiprocessor systems. The changes that Powua makes or would like to make on free software are and will always be communicated to the community of developers and users. Only through dialogue and reciprocal exchange can knowledge be freely created.
  • Computing power is never enough, but, at the same time, to know our computers' limits we must know ours. Powua is at the service of its users' ideas.
  • If you get to the point of thinking that an intrinsic limit of Powua will not allow you to use it at its best, you can be sure that when you bring this to our attention it will be taken into the highest consideration. We think we've created a project that is simple but technologically at the cutting edge and infinitely improvable. We already have various surprises in the works, but we want to test them thoroughly to be sure of providing you with a stable and secure service: you can however tell us which innovations we should concentrate on most. It's clear that we use Powua in the first place, but everyone has their own ideas about what using a Super Computer via Internet should be. We're waiting to hear yours.
  • Free to use more powerful tools. Because even the most powerful tools must be available to everyone without distinction as to race, sex, language or religion. We undertake here and now to make Powua's power accessible in the world's languages. English, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, German, French, Italian and Esperanto are the eight most widely spoken languages on the Internet and in the world and obviously we are or will be accessible from these communities.
  • Our whole project is oriented towards availability without restrictions of any kind. Our site and our software are accessible in conformity with the most modern standards in force, progressively translated into the most widely used languages on the Internet and in the world, and as secure as allowed by the most modern computer security systems in computer environments. We're doing everything to continuously improve the accessibility aspect and make it so that all possible users can use Powua easily. Our translations consider and will consider user's suggestions and we contribute as far we can (through direct funding and testing of users) to the localization of free software in the various languages of this planet. Must access to information be universal?
  • Our mission is clear: to increase the use of more powerful architectures and software and contribute to the improvement of free software through use and direct funding. To experiment and innovate in HPC technologies and remote use of multiprocessor systems. To test the usability of pay-as-you-go applications in free environments that are free-of-charge.
  • Many free software products need funding and, above all, to be used and tested by as many users as possible. This is even truer for software that several computers can use simultaneously. We want to give everyone the possibility of using a quantity of computers simultaneously, which was previously inaccessible due to price and difficulty of use, and never as now made immediate and free to use. We're still in the age where we're made to rush out and buy increasingly powerful, but isolated, computers. We're still in the age where a Super Computer is not accessible to most Internet users. We're about to give Powua to the world and the world will never be the same again. Do you want to join in?
  • We try to learn from our mistakes and we'll never spare any breath to retrace our steps. From today you have someone who gives force to your ideas and guarantees to do so 365 days a year. Are your computers like POWUA?
  • Users are increasingly realizing that the sharing of information (whether it be links, music, images or free software) is revolutionizing the computer world forever. Traditional systems are insecure, slow and unstable and don't always go in the direction that users want, which would be to listen to their needs and comply with their wishes. Free software is the result of the dreams and wishes of free software developers and users and can only improve. Powua undertakes to do its share and guarantee secure, fast and stable systems for its users and for all the users of the free software that Powua uses. You can count on free systems; we are not like the computers you have now.
